What sparks the attention is without a doubt LILLY's virtuoso ability to switch from one technique to another, from one platform to another. Drawing, aquarelle, oil, acrylic, spray, stencil, silkscreen - his palette of techniques is baffling. Nothing specific seems to channel his creative energy. His universe balances between mythical film scenes, reproduced with oil on NY metro maps, and monumental portraits enclaved in plexiglass cases (2 meter sides), while also focusing on a series of silkscreened vanities on vintage disc casing. His works provoke a whirlwind of sensations, where Kill Bill meets Mao and Frida Kahlo observes Christ. LILLY’s style is one that cannot be labeled - the observer is led from one drawing of pure academic style to a silkscreen that is radically Pop Art.
